This role involves supporting families by improving health and wellbeing through evidence-based interventions such as healthy eating, physical activity, breastfeeding, responsive weaning, and oral health. The coach will engage with children, young people, and families across various settings including family hubs, healthy child clinics, and schools. The purpose is to facilitate positive and sustainable lifestyle changes using behavior change techniques like motivational interviewing, goal setting, and confidence building.

You will work with children, young people and families to improve health and wellbeing through evidence-based interventions focused on healthy eating, physical activity, breastfeeding, responsive weaning and oral health.

Job IntroductionWe are looking for a motivated and compassionate Child and Family Lifestyle Coach to join our Warwickshire team.

In this rewarding role, you will engage with children, young people and families across North, South and Central Warwickshire to help them make positive and sustainable lifestyle changes. Using behaviour change techniques such as motivational interviewing, goal setting and confidence building, you will provide tailored support to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.

You will work within family hubs, healthy child clinics, schools and community settings, delivering one-to-one and group interventions to families with children aged 019 years, and up to 25 years for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This role also includes supporting families identified through the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and signposting them to relevant services and community resources.

Main Responsibilities

• Undertake holistic assessments with children, young people and families to identify health and lifestyle needs.
• Develop personalised support plans focused on healthy eating, physical activity and wider wellbeing.
• Deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions in community settings.
• Support families with breastfeeding, responsive weaning and oral healthadvice.
• Use motivational interviewing and other behaviour change techniques to encourage sustainable change.
• Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes through regular follow-up.
• Signpost and refer families to local services and community resources.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to service evaluation and improvement.
• Work collaboratively with Health Visitors, School Nurses, Family Hubs and partner agencies.

The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have:

• A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in health improvement, public health or community development.
• Experience working with babies, children, young people and families.
• Knowledge of behaviour change techniques, including motivational interviewing.
• Understanding of public health and health promotion principles.
• Strong communication and group facilitation skills.
• Experience delivering interventions in community settings.
• A good understanding of health inequalities and barriers to lifestyle change.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent IT and record-keeping skills.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Desirable:

• Breastfeeding knowledge.
• Trauma-informed practice training.
• Level 2 Stop Smoking qualification.
• Experience working in a 019 service, Family Hub or school nursing setting.
