Salary: From £22- £26 per hour dependant on experience
Working hours: 4 - 8 hours per week, currently covering Tuesday and Thursday sessions

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our growing Gynaecology Service. Working under the supervision of the Gynaecology Lead and other clinicians, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care in accordance with established clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practice standards.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
As a Practice Nurse within our Gynaecology Clinic, you will:
- Assess patients and provide treatment using specialised medical equipment.
- Undertake pessary insertion and management following appropriate patient assessment.
- Undertake Mirena coil (IUS) insertion following appropriate patient assessment and clinical protocols.
- Perform complex and difficult cervical smear procedures.
- Conduct physical examinations and observe patients' clinical conditions.
- Record and maintain accurate patient medical histories, symptoms, and treatment plans.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, consultants, and other healthcare professionals.
- Identify concerns requiring escalation and make appropriate referrals to senior clinicians or secondary care services.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical guidelines, policies, and protocols.
- Prepare and maintain clinical environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.
- Manage stock levels, including re-stocking and rotation of surgical equipment and consumables.
- Oversee the cleaning, organisation, and preparation of consulting rooms.
- Obtain and document informed patient consent prior to intimate examinations and procedures.
- Promote health education, wellbeing, and preventative healthcare.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of healthcare data, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Complete incident reports as required.
- Participate in clinical audits and service development activities.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Essential
- Registered Nurse (NMC Registered).
- Experience working within women's health or gynaecology services.
- Competency in pessary insertion and management.
- Competency in Mirena coil (IUS) insertion.
- Experience performing cervical screening, including difficult smear procedures.
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining patient dignity, confidentiality, and safety.
Desirable
- Additional qualifications in women's health or sexual health.
- Experience within primary care, community settings, or outpatient gynaecology clinics.
- Experience participating in clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
