We are a GP Practice in Swindon, looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP. With a growing practice population, we are keen to continue to develop our clinical team.

Job description

Job Title: Salaried GP

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This post is part of a strong multi-disciplinary team. All members of the team are individually and collectively responsible for the provision of services under the APMS and GMS contracts. The key duties are set out below:

The provision of NHS general medical services to practice patients, and any others who are eligible for treatment at the practice.

To provide services in addition to basic general medical services that are specified within the APMS contract held by the practice

The services provided will include:

Responding to medical problems presented by patients including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.

Working in partnership with patients to provide high quality care.

Following NICE guidelines and local protocols for patient care.

Providing appropriate preventive health care and advice within the context of the needs of the patient group.

Attending primary health care team meetings and other meetings as may be necessary

Undertaking relevant administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of medical services.

Maintaining patients clinical records to the highest possible standards. Entering data according to practice protocols using recognised temples and clinical coding.

Providing care within the Quality and Outcomes Framework.

Participating in the clinical audit programme.

Providing certification as outlined in current NHS regulations.

Making home visits to patients as and when clinically necessary

Participating in the clinical supervision and development of health professionals within the practice

Processing post and pathology reports in accordance with practice protocols.

The post holder is required to keep up to date with developments in medical practice, and undertake annual appraisal and revalidation, in line with current professional standards.

Medical practitioners employed in the Practice are responsible for maintaining the appropriate professional integrity and standards of medical practice by:

  • Working within the policies and procedures of the organisation and the practice (including those laid down for prescribing, clinical governance etc.)
  • Clinically supervising other (relevant) staff within the team during their hours of work
  • Participating in the organisations annual appraisal process in addition to the requirement to participate in the NHS Appraisal process for GPs
  • Participating in and contributing to health and social service networks within Swindon and service development within those communities

QUALIFICATIONS

The post holder must:

  • Hold the appropriate medical qualifications required in order to practice medicine.
  • Be included as a fully registered doctor in the GP Register of the General Medical Council. It is a requirement to obtain a current License to Practice.
  • Hold:

a) A Certificate of Prescribed or Equivalent Experience issued by the Joint Committee on Postgraduate Training for General Practice;

Or

b) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) by PMETB

Or

c) A written statement of exemption from the need to have acquired prescribed experience on one of the grounds detailed in Regulation 5 of the NHS (Vocational Training for General Medical Practice) Regulations 1997 (SI 1997/2817) and a statement of eligibility by PMETB.

Or

d) A certificate of Acquired Rights issued by an EEA Member State other than the United Kingdom and a statement of eligibility by PMETB.

  • Be included on the Medical Performers List.
  • Not be suspended or disqualified from practice under any disciplinary proceedings that may result in any such disqualification or censure on the grounds of professional misconduct or negligence. (The post holder will be subject to the scrutiny of the Criminal Records Office).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Confidentiality

You shall comply with the General Data Protection Regulations when processing personal data for patients and staff.

You must be aware of the Caldicott Principles as they affect your work. You can address any questions in relation to this to your line manager.

Any data breaches should be reported immediately to the Data Protection Officer.

All enquiries from the media must be referred to a Director.

Health and Safety

All employees have a statutory duty of care for the safety of themselves and others. Employees are required to report any hazards as soon as they are identified.

All staff must contribute to the management of risk. This requires them to assess the risk in all situations, take of appropriate actions to mitigate any risks identified and report all hazards, incidents and near misses.

All building occupied by staff are non-smoking environments. No-one may smoke or vape in the building. Staff who smoke or vape outside the buildings should cover their uniform.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is integral to the role of every employee. As such, it is the employees responsibility to ensure that they undertake safeguarding training at the relevant level, at the required intervals. The local safeguarding policy and procedure must be read and complied with.

About us

Whalebridge Practice is looking for a Salaried GP to join their multi-disciplinary team, to work over 3 sites within Swindon.

The role is part time and the rate of remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will ideally work 2 days a week.
