Job summary
To provide a high-quality, cost-effective service to the patients of the Practice; diagnosing and prescribing treatments and drugs while working within defined procedures and protocols as laid down by the GPs.
Main duties of the job
Provide first point of contact care for patients presenting undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems by utilising history taking, physical examinations and clinical decision making skills.
Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, referral and discharge as appropriate and deliver key elements of NSFs, providing public health, health protection and promotion programmes that improve health and reduce inequalities
Support the management of patients conditions through offering specialised clinics following appropriate training including (but not limited to) family planning, baby checks, COPD, asthma and diabetes
Break bad news to patients/parents/carers and provide appropriate ongoing support to meet identified needs
Provide health/disease promotion and prevention advice, alongside analysing and actioning diagnostic test results
Participate in duty rotas undertaking face to face, telephone and online consultations for emergency or routine appointments
Undertake Home and Care Home visits when required
Consult and refer patients to other appropriate healthcare professionals both internally and externally as required
To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Snomed Codes
Utilise clinical guidelines and promote evidence-based practice and partake in clinical audits, significant event reviews and other research and analysis tasks
To contribute to the preparation of any Practice development plans
To maintain own registration with the GMC
Job description
The Physician Associate (PA) will work as part of the multidisciplinary primary care team to provide high-quality, patient-centred care. Working under the supervision of a designated General Practitioner , the PA will undertake clinical assessments, develop management plans, provide health promotion advice, and support the delivery of safe and effective healthcare services.
The post holder will contribute to improving access to primary care services and support the achievement of practice.
About us
We are a practice based in leafy Buckinghamshire with approximately 11000 patients.
We have a great team which includes 2 GP Partners, 1 salaried and 3 locum GPs. They are supported by 2 Physicians Associates, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 1 First Contact Practitioner, 3 Practice Nurses and 2 Healthcare assistants.
We also have 3 in house pharmacists, 1 Social Prescriber and an admin team of 12 staff members.
