Job summary

Are you an experienced RMN with a passion for working in a fast paced environment?

We are looking for a senior RMN with experience of working in mental health services to join our integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Service at HMP Dovegate, a Category B facility for remand an sentenced adult males.

You would be joining a professional and compassionate multi disciplinary team committed to Recovery focussed and trauma informed approaches to care. The Service is responsible for assessment, planning and the delivery of a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions to support mental health and substance use needs for the men under our care.

This role is specifically designed to support early screening assessment and support for men in the early days in custody

Main duties of the job

Working effectively within the team you will provide evidence based interventions. You will manage a caseload and will be required to undertake assessments and reviews. Using the Care Programme Approach, you will be a care coordinator, communicating effectively with those involved in the care of people in custody up to release. The role will require you to be a reflective practitioner, eager to work collaboratively with individuals, carers and other professionals to contribute to the delivery of an effective, dynamic, integrated mental health and substance misuse service. You will work with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge, which can include transferring care to other providers such as hospitals or CMHTs whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway. You will help to rehabilitate and support service users to live hopeful and fulfilling lives as members of the community. Inclusion (part of Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust) has prison substance misuse and mental health teams across the country and you will benefit from training and development opportunities as well as the support of an NHS employer experienced in providing prison healthcare for many years.

  • Take a Recovery focused and holistic approach in working with the people who access our services.
  • Deliver care and interventions utilising the stepped care model, including provision of the CPA Framework where appropriate.
  • Assess people's needs to develop, implement and evaluate personalised care plans.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group work taking the lead where appropriate.
  • Deliver evidenced based interventions.
  • Identify people requiring hospital treatment and facilitate the timely transfer under The Mental Health Act.
  • Line management of Band 5 nurse where appropriate.
  • Some weekend working is required as part of this role.
