Lower Darwen Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and committed team.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping children to achieve their potential and who can make a positive contribution to teaching and learning across school.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other colleagues to support pupils' learning, progress and wellbeing. The role will include working with individual pupils and groups, delivering planned learning activities and interventions, supporting assessment and monitoring progress, and helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Preferably holds a relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent;
  • Has experience of working with children in a school or educational setting;
  • Can work confidently and independently with individuals and groups of pupils;
  • Has high expectations of children's learning, behaviour and achievement;
  • Can deliver planned learning activities and targeted interventions effectively;
    Can observe and monitor progress and provide useful feedback to teaching staff;
  • Has good literacy, numeracy and communication skills;
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional conduct;
  • Works well as part of a team and is also able to use their own initiative; and
  • Is enthusiastic, flexible and committed to making a difference to our children.

The pro rata pay equates to: 

  • Level 2, Grade D, SCP 5-8, pro rata £19,908 to £20,880.
  • Level 3, Grade E, SCP 9-15 pro rata £21,209 to £23,365.
