Job summary
Xyla is seeking experienced healthcare professionals to support a large-scale Endoscopy service partnership with Portsmouth NHS Trust. This long-term project has been established to reduce endoscopy waiting lists and improve patient access to essential diagnostic procedures.
We are recruiting for Service Delivery Leads (SDLs), Endoscopy Nurses, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), and Decontamination/Sterile Technicians to join the service from July 2026 through to March 2027. Successful candidates will play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care across weekend endoscopy sessions, with weekday opportunities expected to follow.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an impactful NHS backlog recovery programme, working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team while contributing to improved patient outcomes and service performance. Candidates with relevant endoscopy experience and specialist system training will be highly desirable.
Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through their endoscopy journey. Responsibilities include patient admission and preparation, assisting clinical teams during procedures, supporting recovery care, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and ensuring patients receive a high standard of care and compassion throughout their visit.

Xyla is seeking Healthcare Assistants to support a busy Endoscopy Service in partnership with Portsmouth NHS Trust. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver safe, high-quality patient care throughout the endoscopy pathway.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and admit patients for procedures.
- Record baseline observations and check paperwork.
- Support patient comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.
- Assist nurses and clinicians during procedures.
- Escort patients to and from procedure and recovery areas.
- Support patients in recovery and provide basic care.
- Maintain clean clinical areas and stock supplies.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a clinical setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A patient-focused approach and commitment to high-quality care.
- Endoscopy experience is required.
