Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Informatics Development Manager to lead the Trust's data engineering, data platform and analytics capability.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of data and analytics within one of the UK's leading specialist NHS organisations at a pivotal point in its digital transformation journey.

Following the recent implementation of the Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and Epic Caboodle enterprise data warehouse, the Trust has access to an unprecedented breadth and depth of clinical and operational data. We are now looking for a leader who can help unlock the full value of these data assets, developing the data platform, expanding analytics capability and establishing the foundations for advanced analytics and data science.

You will lead a specialist team delivering data engineering and analytics services, ensuring the Trust has a robust, scalable and future-focused data capability that underpins reporting, insight, innovation and decision-making across the organisation.

About the Role

This role sits at the heart of our Informatics function and is responsible for:

o Leading the Trust's data engineering and data platform capability

o Ensuring high-quality, well-structured data is available to support reporting and analytics

o Developing and leading advanced analytics capability, including predictive and modelling approaches

o Setting the strategic direction for data architecture, tools and platforms

o Building partnerships with clinical teams, operational leaders and external organisations

This role offers the opportunity to work at the centre of a major organisational transformation. The implementation of Epic has significantly expanded the Trust's data landscape, creating new opportunities to curate, model and exploit data in ways that were not previously possible. The successful candidate will play a leading role in determining how these new data assets are utilised to improve patient care, operational performance and organisational effectiveness.

Main duties of the job

Who We're Looking For

This role would particularly suit candidates who are excited by the opportunity to build capability and shape services, rather than simply maintain existing ones. We are looking for someone who can help define the next phase of the Trust's data journey, taking advantage of the opportunities created by Epic and helping establish advanced analytics and data science as core organisational capabilities.

We recognise that candidates may come from different backgrounds. We are particularly interested in applicants who have:

A strong foundation in one of the following:

o Data Engineering / Data Platform leadership

o Analytics / Business Intelligence / Data Science leadership

And the ability to:

o Lead end-to-end data and analytics capability, even if your technical background is stronger in one area

o Work across technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex requirements into deliverable solutions

o Set strategy, direction and standards for data and analytics services

________________________________________

What You'll Bring

You will ideally have:

o Significant experience of leading data, analytics or informatics services in a complex organisation

o Strong understanding of:

o Data platforms, data warehousing and ETL processes

o Analytics and insight generation (including advanced analytics approaches)

o Experience working with large, complex datasets

o Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including clinical and executive colleagues

o Experience leading teams, services and programmes

________________________________________

Important Note on Skillsets

We recognise that candidates are unlikely to have deep technical expertise in both data engineering and advanced analytics.

We welcome applications from candidates who:

o Have depth in one area (e.g. engineering or analytics)

o And demonstrate the ability to lead across both domains

Please refer to the JD/PS attachment to see details of which of the Person Specification criteria are essential/desirable for engineering led or analytics led applications.
