Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Senior Advanced Practitioner to join the Children and Young People's Neurodevelopmental Service, with a specific focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Dual Diagnosis (ASD/ADHD) pathways.

This is a senior practitioner role combining advanced clinical practice, staff leadership, service improvement and system-wide collaboration. The post holder will be a key contributor to the delivery, quality and ongoing development of neurodevelopmental assessment pathways, supporting safe, timely and person-centred care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

Main duties of the job

Main duties include advanced, autonomous clinical practice within the Neurodevelopmental Service, contributing to ASD and Dual Diagnosis (ASD/ADHD) diagnostic pathways. The post holder will undertake complex assessment, formulation and clinical decision-making within agreed scope and governance, and provide expert advice and leadership across the MDT to support high-quality diagnostic outcomes. Responsibilities also include day-to-day professional and operational leadership, line management/clinical supervision, and supporting induction, supervision and competency development. The role leads service improvement (pathway redesign, efficiency and reducing unwarranted variation), supports delivery of national priorities (timely access and prudent, value-based care), and uses data/audit/feedback to drive quality improvement and business/workforce planning. The post holder contributes to clinical governance, audit, risk and assurance; ensures practice aligns with professional standards, national guidance and local policy; and supports learning from incidents/complaints/feedback. The role is a key liaison with education, local authority, CAMHS, primary care and third-sector partners, promotes effective multi-agency working in line with ALN responsibilities, and represents the service at relevant forums.
