Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Service Manager within the Medicine directorate at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.

Working closely with the Site Specialty Managers, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of clerical and administrative services across a range of medical specialties, ensuring the delivery of efficient, high-quality support services.

This is a varied and fast-paced role requiring proven experience in staff management, including supervision, performance management, and staff development, alongside strong operational management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

The directorate of Medicine includes Gastroenterology, Renal, Respiratory, Cardiology, Care of the Elderly, Rheumatology, Diabetes, Neurology, and Medical Wards, offering an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual with excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a passion for delivering high-quality administrative services in a healthcare setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of clerical teams across the directorate, providing leadership, support and guidance to staff while ensuring services are delivered efficiently and in line with organisational objectives. The role will involve managing staffing resources, monitoring performance, supporting service improvements, and working collaboratively with clinical and managerial colleagues.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
