Main duties of the job

The Maintenance Operative role at Avery Healthcare involves ensuring that the building and grounds are well maintained through a variety of routine maintenance tasks and applying basic repairs to equipment and systems. You will carry out all general maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building tasks both inside and outside the Home. Responsibilities also include supporting new residents to arrange their room, ensuring routine re-decoration as required, advising on the quality and timely ordering of replacement goods, and providing out of hours emergency service as part of the on-call rota. Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
  • Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
  • Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in your application, you will live our values of caring,supportive,honest, respectful, and accountable in all that you do.

Our ideal candidatemust:

  • Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
  • Hold a full driving licence.
  • Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
  • Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
