Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a full time Locum Consultant in General Internal Medicine to join the existing team working across Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington and Altrincham Hospitals.

The successful candidate will deliver consultant led care on a newly developed Medical Specialties ward on the Wythenshawe site which incorporates 22 beds caring for patients with a variety of presenting conditions.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would manage patients care alongside other consultant medical colleagues. It would be expected they provide teaching and supervision to the juniors on the ward and lead on service delivery, improvement and relevant QIP and would build good relationships with the ward manager, matron and operational team to deliver high quality safe care.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the general medical on call rota.

The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the general medical on-call rota. This includes a 1:8 weekend and a 1:24 evening rota with overnight availability from home. The weekend rota either delivering post take ward round reviews or management of the Acute Medical Unit. There are 4 general medical consultants (sometimes 5) rostered each weekend day, which enables peer support and adequate senior workforce. This rota attracts a 1% supplement for the overnight commitments.
