A vacancy has arisen for a Band 5 staff nurse on the Pevensey Haematology/Oncology Ward
We are looking for a registered nurse with proven experience to work as part of the haematology/oncology team. You will be joining an established team of nurses in cancer and haematology services and instrumental in the development of this service
Mentorship, Cannulation and phlebotomy skills are essential requirements and training will be given in the administration of chemotherapy.

You will be a registered nurse with generic pre registration experience in a care environment and have at least one year experience as a qualified nurse. You will have the ability to organise your own and others workload and have excellent communication skills. Venepuncture and cannulation skills are an essential pre-requisite.
Main duties of the job
The in-patient area consists of 11 single occupancy en-suite rooms, one of which is a teenage/young adult room and with 2 three bedded bays, and cares for newly diagnosed patients and those requiring a higher degree of observation and treatment at various stages of the disease process. The Haematology Unit cares for Level 1 and 2 Haematology in-patients and has close relationships with the Level 3 and 4 Centres.
The day area has 18 chair/bed spaces caring predominately for patients receiving Haematology and Oncology treatments and is currently open from 0800 -1900 Monday to Friday. The Unit uses the Chemocare electronic prescribing system and has implemented an electronic diary system of booking patient appointments.
