Job summary

We have an Exciting opportunity for Occupational Therapist in Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust to join the Male and Female Adult Acute Mental Health Wards at The Caludon Centre. You will be responsible for leading the development, delivery and evaluation of effective Occupational Therapy services within a 24/7 acute inpatient assessment and treatment environment. You will manage and support the delivery of evidence-based pathway interventions, contribute to the holistic assessment of patients physical and mental wellbeing needs, and help maintain and develop a positive therapeutic environment across the wards. You will also support the development, delivery and evaluation of meaningful ward-based activity interventions, while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and engaging with carers and significant others to ensure patients receive holistic and person-centred care

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for organising and prioritising your own workload under the supervision of a senior team member, ensuring delegated responsibilities are completed effectively and in line with organisational systems, policies and processes. You will be managing your duties flexibly in response to changing service requirements and supporting the team to maintain effective operational delivery. You will contribute to ongoing service development and ensure your practice is aligned with relevant care cluster interventions. You will also be supporting the Trusts values by promoting compassion, dignity, respect and partnership in your interactions with patients, carers, colleagues and other professionals.

Job description

  • To undertake comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and develop goal-focused interventions that support service users to participate in meaningful recovery activities, promoting engagement across self-care, education, leisure, exercise and vocational occupations.
  • To assess and enhance patients functional abilities and independent living skills, incorporating symptom and risk management, routine building, problem-solving, communication skills, and appropriate aids, adaptations and environmental modifications.
  • To contribute to multidisciplinary formulation of patients needs and risk, ensuring occupational perspectives inform clinical decision-making and care planning, while liaising with care coordinators and relevant professionals as required.
  • To provide direct and indirect occupational interventions using evidence-based approaches, evaluating their effectiveness and adapting interventions to support individual recovery goals and changing clinical needs.
  • To supervise and support the delivery of ward-based activities and provide direct supervision to the designated Activity Co-ordinator, offering guidance to ensure activities are meaningful, purposeful and appropriately delivered.
  • To provide supervision and guidance to junior Occupational Therapy, AHP and activity staff and students, supporting their development and promoting safe, effective and professionally appropriate practice
