INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEES

The post holder will lead the development of holistic, high quality, patient focused care for patients with Hepatic pancreatic Biliary/ Upper Gastrointestinal cancers in North Cumbria ensuring national guidance is implemented locally by contributing to the management and development of the service. They will co-ordinate the diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment and follow-up of these patients and will work across directorate and primary / secondary care boundaries to ensure a seamless service from diagnosis onwards. They will provide specialist information and support for patients and carers and become an expert resource for the primary care team. The post holder will initiate and participate in audit & research studies in order to monitor and improve outcomes for this patient group.

o Caring for the specific needs of individuals requiring information, advice, and psychological support.

o Acting as a co-ordinator of the care pathway, facilitating multidisciplinary working across healthcare sectors, and organisational boundaries for the service.

o Demonstrating sound knowledge of the principles of HPB/ oesophago-gastric nursing ensuring optimum standards for patients.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

To be fully responsible for a cohort of patients, providing assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the individual HPB/ oesophago-gastric cancer patients' needs in collaboration with the Multi-disciplinary team, providing guidance, advice, support and counselling throughout the patient pathway.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £21.50 + Administration cost of £6.50 = £28.00. Deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.

Enhanced Check: £49.50 + administration cost of £6.50 = £56.00. Deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.
