Mayfield Surgery is looking for one or two Salaried GPs to join our friendly and supportive GP Training Practice in Roehampton, South West London.

We have flexibility to offer 37 sessions per week across one or two posts and welcome applications from GPs at different stages of their careers. No particular special interest is required.

We operate an Accurx Total Triage model, with patient requests clinically reviewed according to need and appropriate timeframe. This is supported by a Duty GP who provides oversight of on-the-day demand and works closely with our wider clinical and administrative team.

We offer a starting salary of £11,000 per session per annum, with higher remuneration available depending on experience, alongside six weeks' annual leave, study leave, NHS Pension and medical indemnity reimbursement.

Main duties of the job

Briefly describe the main duties of the roleThe Salaried GP will provide high-quality, patient-centred general medical services as part of our established clinical team.

The role includes a mix of face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations, management of acute and long-term conditions, prescribing, reviewing investigations and results, referrals and appropriate follow-up.

You will work within our Total Triage model and participate in the Duty GP rota, providing clinical oversight of on-the-day and urgent patient demand.

The postholder will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team and wider community, PCN and neighbourhood services to ensure patients are directed to appropriate care.

The role also includes maintaining accurate clinical records, contributing to safeguarding and clinical governance, supporting delivery of QOF and enhanced services, and maintaining appropriate professional development, appraisal and revalidation.

Job description

The postholder will work as part of the Mayfield Surgery clinical team to provide high-quality, safe and patient-centred general medical services to our registered population.

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide general medical services, including the assessment and management of acute presentations, long-term conditions, health promotion and preventative care.
• Undertake a mix of face-to-face, telephone and digital consultations in accordance with clinical need.
• Assess, diagnose, investigate, treat and appropriately follow up patients presenting with a wide range of health needs.
• Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with local and national guidance, including medication review and appropriate safety-netting.
• Request, interpret and act upon investigations and test results, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
• Review and action clinical correspondence, results, prescribing requests and other clinical workflows in a timely manner.
• Make appropriate referrals to community, secondary care and other services, working collaboratively with PCN and neighbourhood teams.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and appropriately coded clinical records using EMIS Web.
• Complete appropriate clinical documentation, including fit notes and safeguarding records.

Total Triage and Duty GP

• Work within the practice's Accurx Total Triage model, ensuring patient requests are assessed and directed according to clinical need and appropriate timeframe.
• Participate in the Duty GP rota, providing clinical oversight of on-the-day demand and urgent clinical requests.
• Work closely with the wider clinical and administrative team to ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate clinician, service or pathway.

Quality, governance and professional responsibilities

• Contribute to the delivery of QOF, PCN requirements and Enhanced Services where appropriate.
• Participate in clinical governance activities, including significant event reviews, audit and quality improvement.
• Contribute appropriately to safeguarding and infection prevention and control processes.
• Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team and contribute to practice meetings and clinical discussions.
• Support the practice's role as a GP Training Practice and contribute to the learning environment where appropriate to the postholder's experience.
• Maintain continuing professional development and participate in annual appraisal and revalidation.
• Work in accordance with GMC professional standards and relevant NHS, CQC and practice policies and procedures.
• Undertake other reasonable clinical responsibilities appropriate to the role of a Salaried GP, as agreed through the job planning process.

Give an overview of your organisationMayfield Surgery is a friendly and supportive GP Training Practice serving approximately 6,600 patients in Roehampton, South West London. We regularly host GP trainees and provide a collaborative working environment with strong clinical and peer support.

Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, nursing staff, a Clinical Pharmacist, Social Prescriber and First Contact Physiotherapist, supported by an experienced administrative team.

We are an EMIS Web practice using Accurx Total Triage, Docman and NHS e-Referral Service. We are rated Good by the CQC and are members of PRIME Primary Care Network and the Putney & Roehampton Neighbourhood.

We offer six weeks' annual leave plus bank holidays and one week study leave (pro rata), NHS Pension, medical indemnity reimbursement and free on-site parking. There is no extended-hours or out-of-hours commitment and no requirement to undertake private medicals or insurance reports.
