The Kitchen Assistant will play a key role within Jewish Cares Hospitality Team, supporting the delivery of high-quality catering services across our care homes, community centres, and wider services. The postholder will assist with the preparation and service of nutritious, appealing meals while helping to create a welcoming dining experience for residents, service users, visitors, and colleagues. Working as part of a busy kitchen environment, the role involves supporting food preparation, maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene, preparing dining areas, serving food and beverages, and ensuring catering services are delivered safely and efficiently. Main duties of the job
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality Team. You will support the delivery of excellent catering services across Jewish Cares care homes, campuses, and community settings, helping to provide enjoyable and nutritious meals for the people we support. Working alongside colleagues in a busy kitchen environment, you will assist with food preparation, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, prepare dining areas, and support food service. Our multi-award-winning organisation is looking to recruit a Kitchen Assistant to join our Hospitality team. This role may include some weekend working.
The role of Kitchen Assistant will involve the delivery of Hospitality Services within our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres to excellent standards.
This post is working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 and will require some weekend working on a rota basis.
Typical shifts are 7am to 3pm or 11am to 7pm.
What you will be doing You will have a key role ensuring we deliver an excellent service to our customers, creating an inviting and pleasant environment. Your core duties will involve:
Basic food preparation including vegetables, salads, and sandwiches Maintaining a clean, hygienic, and presentable environment Preparing and arranging food counters and dining areas, ready for service Serving hot & cold food and beverages Operating the till and cashing up when required
Who are we looking for? You will ideally have previous experience working within a busy kitchen environment, working both independently and within a team. You will need:
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to undertake this qualification) Great communication skills, confident speaking to a range of people Good literacy and numeracy skills Willing to undertake appropriate training (e.g., Supervision, NVQ Training)
