Job summary
The Relief Care Team Leader will play a key role within Jewish Cares Care Team, providing flexible leadership and support across our residential and nursing care services. Working on a relief basis, the postholder will support the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care while helping to ensure residents safety, dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life. The role involves leading and supporting care teams on shift, coordinating daily care activities, allocating staff, responding to residents needs, supporting medication and care delivery, and ensuring standards are maintained in line with organisational and regulatory requirements. Main duties of the job

Working closely with care teams, managers, residents, families, and healthcare professionals, you will help coordinate daily activities, provide guidance and support to colleagues, and promote a positive and inclusive environment. Job description
We are looking for a caring, motivated, and proactive Care Team Leader to join our residential and nursing care teams. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced care professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care while supporting and leading others to achieve the very best outcomes for residents.
As a Team Leader, you will lead shifts, support and guide care staff, and ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and responsive care that promotes wellbeing, dignity, independence, and quality of life.
You will play an important role in creating a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment for residents, relatives, colleagues, and visitors, while helping to maintain the high standards our services are known for.
The Care Team Leader role is worked on a rota basis and includes evening and weekend shifts.
Shift length: 12-hour shifts (88)
Includes some weekend working
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading and coordinating care staff during shifts to ensure excellent standards of care are consistently delivered
- Supporting residents with personal care and daily living activities in line with individual care plans and preferences
- Promoting residents physical, emotional, social, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing
- Contributing to the development and review of care plans to ensure care remains person centred and responsive
- Responding promptly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and resident requests
- Supporting, mentoring, and motivating care staff to maintain a positive and professional team culture
- Assisting with staff induction, supervision, learning, and development, including agency staff where required
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring effective communication with residents, relatives, colleagues, and healthcare professionals
- Promoting health, safety, safeguarding, and compliance with organisational policies and care regulations
- Supporting an excellent customer experience for all residents, families, and visitors
What We Are Looking For Essential
- QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
- Experience working within a care environment, including supervising staff within a care setting
- Experience supporting older people, including individuals living with dementia and physical disabilities
- Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and person-centred care practices
- Knowledge of medication administration and CQC regulations/KLOEs
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations positively and work effectively under pressure
- Good IT skills, including the use of electronic care planning systems
- A flexible and compassionate approach to supporting residents needs

- Assessor or Mentor qualification
- Understanding of Jewish values, culture, and traditions
