Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Haematology (7PA) at Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post has a specific focus on Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. This is a substantive post to commence as soon as possible. The post holder will also take part in the haemato-oncology on call out of hours rota and the inpatient attending service. It is expected that the post holder will help develop clinical trials, particularly in low grade lymphomas.

Interviews for this post will be held in person on 04 November 2026 at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. (Hills Road, CB2 0QQ). Specific department and venue details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

Main duties of the job

This is a replacement post within the Haematology Department. We are seeking an enthusiastic consultant in haematology (7PA) with expertise in Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. The successful candidate will work within an established sub-speciality team.

Inpatient work:This willoccur as part of a malignant attending rota and will incorporate care of patients with haematological malignancies excluding allogeneic stem cell transplant and CAR-T. There is a consultant on call rota for malignant haematology only, currently 1:8 (with prospective cover).

Outpatient work: This will include a weekly multidisciplinary meeting and 2 clinics covering lymphoma and CLL.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Working in Cambridge

Strong links exist between the clinical service and the academic department within the Univeristy of Cambirdge. There are numerous teaching and research opportunities throughout the department including an active clinical trials portfolio. The post will currently be based full time in Addenbrookes which is at the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the largest centre for biomedical research in Europe. CUH has been an NHS commissioned CAR-T centre since 2020, and there is an active cellular therapy trials portfolio. There is the potential for honorary university appointments dependent upon contributions to teaching and research.

Funding has been agreed to build the separate Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital, which will include haematology, with a projected completion date in 2032.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
