HR Apprentice We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Human Resources Department as an Apprentice.
Based at the HR Department Reception, you will work under supervision & gain valuable experience in a busy HR environment. The role will involve a variety of administrative & customer service duties, providing support to both employees & visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical workplace skills, gain a recognised qualification in Level 2 Administration Assistant, & build a career within Human Resources.
Apprenticeship Eligibility Please note that government-funded apprenticeship schemes are subject to eligibility criteria. Applicants must:
- Be aged between 16 & 24 years old.
- Not hold a degree or a Level 4 qualification (or above).
- Have been resident in the UK/EU for the past three years.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities The successful apprentice will provide administrative and customer service support to the Human Resources Department. Duties may include:
- Receiving, date-stamping and distributing incoming mail.
- Maintaining electronic and paper-based filing systems for new starters, existing employees and leavers.
- Handling telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries, responding where appropriate or referring queries to the relevant team member. This may include taking comprehensive messages.
- Staffing the HR Department Reception, welcoming visitors, signposting them appropriately and ensuring visitors are signed in and out in accordance with fire regulations.
- Accessing the TRAC recruitment system to respond to straightforward queries from recruiting managers and candidates, and supporting candidates to confirm interview attendance.
- Providing ad hoc administrative support to the HR team, including photocopying and preparing information packs.
- Undertaking occasional word processing tasks and maintaining simple Excel spreadsheets.
- Inputting data accurately and promptly into the ESR system in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Liaising with Payroll, managers and HR colleagues to resolve data queries and correct errors where required.
- Ensuring all information and data is handled confidentially, securely and in line with current UK data protection legislation.

New to the NHS: If you are joining the NHS for the first time, you will be paid at the Apprentice Rate, which is currently £8.00 per hour for the first year of your apprenticeship. Thereafter, you will be paid the age-related National Minimum Wage for the remainder of your fixed-term contract.
Existing NHS Employees: If you already have NHS experience, your pay will be determined in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions. This means you will receive a percentage of the relevant pay band for the role, reflective of your current qualifications & experience.
