Main duties of the job

Theatre Healthcare Assistant The Theatre Healthcare Assistant is a valued member of our Operating Theatre team, providing essential support to Registered Theatre Practitioners within the department. Working under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Theatre Healthcare Support Worker or Registered Theatre Practitioner, you will undertake a wide range of activities that contribute to the safe and effective delivery of patient care within the theatre environment.

This role offers excellent opportunities for personal and professional development. Successful candidates will be supported to complete the Care Certificate and a range of in-house theatre competencies, enabling them to develop their skills and progress within the department.

Career progression is actively encouraged, and many of our Theatre Healthcare Support Workers have gone on to undertake training to become Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs).

Essential Criteria Applicants must either:

  • Hold a Level 3 Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) qualification in a healthcare-related subject, such as an NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent qualification.

OR

  • Be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of relevant healthcare experience.
