Job summary
Kingswood Health Centre are seeking to employ two new part-time Practice Receptionists to replace staff who have moved into new roles within the practice.
The role is 18 hpw to be worked Monday 1pm-7pm, Tuesday 8am-2pm, Wednesday 8am-2pm.
Candidates will be invited for an optional practice visit to see how we work. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 30th September.
We are a team-oriented practice serving approximately 13,000 registered patients. The practice is led by seven GP Partners and a Managing Partner, supported by five salaried GPs.
We pride ourselves on our strong multidisciplinary approach. Our clinical team includes three clinical pharmacists and a pharmacy technician, alongside a well-established and experienced nursing team.
This is complemented by a fantastic group of non-clinical staff, including administration, secretarial, reception, and management colleagues, all working collaboratively to deliver high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
Practice Receptionists are the first point of contact for patients and are a key source of support for our clinical team. Their responsibilities include arranging appointments, processing tasks and instructions from clinicians, assisting with coordinating home visits and delivering a professional and welcoming front-of-house service for patients and visitors.
Job description
The successful candidate will receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service. They will undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team. They will facilitate effective communication between patients, staff and other health and social care colleagues.
At Kingswood Health Centre we have a predominantly online method of patient access so Reception staff duties rotate between answering/making calls, processing requests made online or covering the front desk. We believe this way of working is good for wellbeing and offers variety in the role.

Kingswood Health Centre operates in a semi-urban environment with a varied demographic of patients. We also support a number of nursing and residential homes. We support staff development and encourage our team through regular appraisal & training.
The health centre is situated close to the A4174 ring road & not far from local cycle routes. Our purpose-built premises were completed in 2011 to a high specification. We are able to offer secure bicycle storage and shower facilities.
We are a very sociable practice, regularly arranging staff events and team challenges to support our nominated charity. We have regular meetings and also close quarterly for all-staff training afternoons.
