Are you looking for a role where precision matters and every detail counts? We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join our small, dedicated team in the Biochemical Genetics Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Our specialist laboratory provides Newborn Blood Spot Screening for East Anglia and undertakes metabolic investigations for hospitals across the region and beyond. We pride ourselves on delivering a friendly, responsive and efficient service, and we're looking for someone who shares these values.

Main duties of the job

About the role

You will support our Biomedical Scientists and technical staff with a variety of essential tasks, including:

Accurate data entry using laboratory information systemsPre-analytical duties such as centrifuging, pipetting, aliquoting, and sample preparationGeneral laboratory responsibilities including filing, housekeeping, and maintaining Good Laboratory Practice

All roles in the Trust include a mandatory 12-week training period. Therefore, successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:

• applied for a Graduate visa
• or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment
