Job summary

Come and join the Mental HealthSingle point of Access (SPA)team for Surrey and North East Hampshire.

The SPA Service offers:

  • A single referral point for GPs and other professionals across Surrey and north east Hampshire
  • Compressed hours e.g. Mon-Weds 8am-8pm.
  • A 24 hour telephone advice and support for people who use services and carers
  • More responsive crisis services with improved experiences for people who use services, carers and professionals

Our aim is to provide people with mental health issues access to the support they need at the right time, with positive outcomes.

We are looking for people who are dedicated to promoting recovery, and who can inspire people experiencing mental health and their families that recovery is possible for everyone. You will have access to training and support and supervision from qualified Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers.

Post holders will work within our hub located at Gatton Place, Redhill located across the Trust providing a single point of access for all emergency, urgent and routine referrals. You will be working alongside our team of practitioners in order to expand skills and experience in the triage, assessment and treatment of people experiencing a mental health crisis.

Main duties of the job

Provide timely mental health assessment, triage, and clinical decision-making for emergency and urgent referrals.

Ensure effective risk assessment, care planning, and signposting to appropriate services.

Undertake comprehensive psychiatric, psychosocial, and risk assessments, identifying risks to self, others, and vulnerability concerns, and take appropriate action in line with safeguarding procedures, the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and professional standards.

Formulate and communicate clear clinical recommendations, determining the most appropriate pathway for treatment, support, or escalation.Work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate urgent responses, facilitate safe and effective transfers of care, and support hospital avoidance where clinically appropriate to ensure seamless care and continuity of support.Promote recovery-focused, person-centred care that respects individual needs, culture, values, spirituality, and equality principles. Provide specialist mental health advice and consultation to professionals, supporting informed decision-making across the wider health and care system.Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical records, ensuring all interventions, assessments, and outcomes are appropriately documented.

Contribute to service development, quality improvement, delivery of evidence-based practice while upholding the Trust's values, vision, and professional standards.
