Are you an experienced HCPC registered Psychologist seeking a new challenge?

We are currently wishing to recruit a Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, to be based in our newly developed team in northeast Oxfordshire, which is part of of the integrated North & West Adult Mental Health Team.

We really want to hear from enthusiastic HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologists wishing to make a difference to patients with complex mental health difficulties. Additionally, we are keen to hear from other accredited psychological therapists that can demonstrate they meet the specification.

We offer CPD and training for career progression, have excellent links with the Oxford Centre for Psychological Health that includes Oxford Centre for Cognitive Therapy and Oxford Institute for Clinical Psychology Training, which is hosted by the Trust.

We encourage innovation and research with opportunities for collaborations with University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry and Department of Experimental Psychology. We also collaborate with Oxford Brookes University and Buckinghamshire New University.

We provide excellent accredited supervision by senior therapists to help you consolidate your therapy skills in a focused and supported way.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • To provide specialist psychological assessments of referred clients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
  • To plan and implement formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods of proven efficacy.
  • To implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • To contribute to the triage of referrals from the AMHT and consider the appropriate level of treatment.
