General Practitioner (GP) 9 month FTC -1 day per week
We are seeking a dedicated Private GP to join our team to cover services at our own hospitals at Shepton Mallet and Emersons Green. We work in partnership with insurance providers and the NHS to provide elective surgery and diagnostics for our private patients and NHS patients. On joining our team, you will be a key part of the centre allowing patients to achieve their health and lifestyle goals.
We pride ourselves in offering excellence in clinical quality, customer service and cleanliness. Both sites offer four state of the art theatres and modern surgical and day care wards covering Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Oral surgery and Gynaecology. We also have a JAG accredited Endoscopy department and Radiology department.
We are open to full time or part-time applications.
Main duties of the job
As our Private GP, you will be given the tools to be able to provide high quality patient centred care. Appointment times are scheduled for up to 60 minutes, giving you the opportunity to spend real quality time with your patients and enable you to get to the heart of their needs.
You will be a key part of assisting both our NHS and private patients in pre-operative optimisation (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, newly identified atrial fibrillation or left bundle branch block, anaemia, low sodium, skin conditions).
You will be required to build on close relations with other surgical colleagues as part of our multidisciplinary team. You will also be required to participate in audit, research and management of the service.

About us
You will be a UK registered medical professional, who is listed on the GMC register, with
- several years post graduate experience working as a doctor, including 2 years post qualification as a GP in the NHS.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice.
- Excellent clinical skills
- Able to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to take responsibility and show evidence of leadership.
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with setbacks.
- Awareness of personal limitations.
