Job summary

Join our Posture and Mobility Service in a varied, hands-on role supporting people to remain mobile, independent, and safe. The role includes regular travel to service users' homes to carry out driving assessments, equipment setup, and support in real-world environments.

Technical and Safety Responsibilities:Carry out inspection, configuration, programming, and adjustment of powered mobility equipment, including motors, actuators, batteries, and control modules. A key part of the role is working with specialist controls (e.g. head controls), as well as completing electrical diagnostics and component replacement in line with manufacturer guidance and safety standards.

Clinical Support and Assessment:Support registered clinicians with patient assessments for wheelchairs and postural equipment. This includes home visits, mobility driving assessments, and carrying out home environment assessments to determine suitability for powered wheelchairs, including liaison with local authorities regarding required adaptations.

Administrative and Reporting Duties:Order equipment, maintain accurate records, and support incident reporting in line with departmental and regulatory requirements.

Collaborative Working:Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners across health and social care to support coordinated, person-centred care.

Main duties of the job

Carry out electrical work on powered mobility equipment within competence, including component replacement, diagnostics, programming, and setup of specialist controls (e.g. head controls), escalating where required.

Provide technical support and advice to the service to ensure the safe and effective provision of mobility equipment for service users with a wide range of needs.

Assist registered clinicians with the assessment of patients requiring posture, pressure, and specialist mobility equipment, including support with equipment setup, fitting, and mobility driving assessments.

Undertake home environment assessments to determine suitability for powered wheelchairs, including identifying access issues and liaising with local authorities and partner services regarding required adaptations.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to safe working practices by following departmental procedures and manufacturer guidance.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
