Job summary

Job Summary As a decontamination technician you will be responsible for the reprocessing of reusable medical & surgical instrument sets including specialist instrumentation, ensuring they are safe for use on patients. Full training will be provided to enable you to perform your duties to an acceptable standard and in compliance with written specifications & procedures. Once training has been completed you will be expected to work in all areas of the department and assist, as required, in the co-ordination of activities to meet with service demand. Key Working Relationships The Central Decontamination Unit (CDU) is part of the Estates and Facilities Directorate, and works closely with the TACC Care Group. Staff at CDU regularly work together with theatre and clinic staff to ensure surgical instrumentation is fit for purpose and available to use when it is required.

Main duties of the job

Main duties are inspecting and processing all instrument trays that will be used on patients. Full training will be given to use the decontamination machinery.

You will be expected to work with in all the trusts guidlines.
