Salaried GPNHS
Job summary
Due to retirement, we have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated salaried GP to start with us as soon as possible.
We are looking to fill 8 sessions per week, which could be split into 2 roles. We would invite applications from GPs seeking 2 sessions upwards.
Working days and times can be flexible but Friday is essential, as is the requirement to be in the building until 6.30pm on Duty Doctor days only, which are rota'd on a fortnightly basis and shared amongst GPs.
Main duties of the job
Your working day will consist of a mixture of face to face and telephone consultations and associated administrative work, in addition to occasional home visits.
All of our GPs take on some supervision of registrars, medical students and oversight of ACPs / Paramedic colleagues with time allocated.
There is opportunity to work closely with one of our 7 large care homes, which would involve occasional ward rounds and liaison with other colleagues who attend visits to manage the care of these patients, with time allocated.
We would be particularly interested in applications from GPs with special interest in frailty, women's health or mental health.
Job description

- occasional home visits (we have a paramedic employed for home visits but some require a GP to attend, e.g. EOL)
- own referrals and admin
- filing lab results (your own and a share of absent colleagues')
- signing prescriptions (your own and a share of absent colleagues')
- supervision of students / registrars

Our GPs work in sessions. Each session consists of 11 bookable appointment slots for a mixture of telephone or F2F appointments plus an additional 2 "GP only to book" slots for your personal use.
GPs may choose their own appointment length. We have a mixture of GPs who prefer 10, 12.5 or 15 minute slots.
We have a Duty Doctor rota, which equates to roughly one day per fortnight, where the rota'd GP does not have prebooked routine appointments and manages the day's triage of online consultations and booking patients into available 'same day' slots.
