Main duties of the job

The Head of Recruitment role at Akari Care involves providing strategic leadership and managing recruitment within the organization. This includes developing and implementing recruitment strategies, offering in-house expertise in international recruitment, and advising the Senior Management Team. The role involves maintaining sponsorship licenses, ensuring compliance with Home Office obligations, and managing recruitment systems such as job posting and application tracking. Additionally, the role requires interpreting KPIs for proactive insight, collaborating with operational colleagues for workforce planning, and ensuring recruitment processes comply with laws and regulations. The Head of Recruitment also contributes to operational and financial targets, mentors a team of five direct reports, and partakes in ad hoc projects aligned with the Groups objectives. Demonstrating Akari Cares values throughout the recruitment process and driving reputation-enhancing initiatives forms an essential part of the responsibilities.

Overview of Role and responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and effective management of recruitment within the business. Develop and implement the business recruitment strategy

Provision of in-house expertise (including international recruitment), providing advice to the Senior Management Team and wider business as required. Provision of the same expertise in cross-functional strategic and operational projects

Demonstrable experience and expertise in international recruitment, maintenance of sponsorship licenses and certificates, and compliance with Home Office reporting, systems and portal obligations

Responsibility for recruitment systems including job posting (Hire Intelligence) and application tracking (We Are Landed). Management of relationships with systems and other suppliers

Provision of proactive insight through interpretation of KPIs and other data

Working collaboratively with operational Colleagues to support the business including the management and safe reduction of agency and solving resourcing challenges. Workforce planning and pipelining

Ensuring recruitment processes comply with employment laws and regulations, and analysing recruitment metrics to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Contribution to achievement of operational and financial targets

The capture and utilisation of market intelligence, benchmarking and insight

Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of 5 direct reports to ensure high performance and effective hiring practices

Recognised recruitment expertise requiring minimum of supervision.

Commitment to doing as well as leading

Management and delivery of ad hoc projects in line with Groups strategic objectives

Any other task, consistent with the position of Head of Recruitment, as required by the Board of Directors

Displaying and demonstrating Akari Care Values throughout the recruitment process

Driving initiatives to enhance Akari Cares reputation as an employer of choice, including participation in job fairs and recruitment

Person Specification:

Strong personal drive

Versatility and flexibility ability to adapt to changes in agenda and task requirements

Excellent communication skills including verbal and written

Knowledge of resourcing practices and experience of managing recruitment delivery

Team player hands on, sleeves up approach

Diligence to ensure work is completed to the highest standard, working accurately and efficiently

Takes full ownership of own role and objectives

Can do approach with tenacity and experience in a dynamic, commercial environment

Confident in own abilities but prepared to listen to Colleagues

Proactive in seeking guidance when working beyond current knowledge or experience

Resourceful in seeking guidance and problem solving

Ability to influence at all levels, both internally and externally

Willingness to travel around the Akari Care estate

Necessary Skills/Qualifications:

Demonstrable knowledge and experience of international recruitment and related compliance

Degree educated

Very strong attention to detail

Highly developed verbal and written reporting skills to inform and explain succinctly

Consistently produces work to the highest standard

Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels

Able to prioritise work based on deadlines and importance

A proven problem solver proactive in identifying issues, recommending solutions and implementing agreed recommendations

Ability to motivate and engage the recruitment function to meet targets and KPIs.

Experience of managing recruitment function

Desirable Experience

Existing care sector (or similar) experience

Experience of working at Head of Department level
