General Practitioner with Special Interest in Gynaecology for Primary Care Services (GPwSI)

Location: Across North Buckinghamshire/ Aylesbury Clinics

One to two sessions per week (4 hours per session) in-person clinics

Salary: £73.23 per hour

We are seeking a motivated and passionate General Practitioner with a strong interest in Women's Health to join our dynamic and supportive Community Gynaecology Team.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a GP who is looking to develop and expand their expertise in women's health while working alongside experienced GPs with Special Interests (GPwSI) and Consultant Gynaecologists. You will provide high-quality, patient-centred gynaecological care within a community setting, helping to improve access to specialist services and deliver outstanding patient outcomes.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must possess the following qualifications and core clinical skills upon appointment:

  • Qualifications: Fully registered General Practitioner with the GMC (or relevant national body) and on the GP Register.
  • Cervical Smear Taker: Certified and up to date with national cervical screening program guidelines.
  • LARC Procedures: Competent and confident in intrauterine system/device (IUCD/IUS) insertion and removal (Coil Fitter & Remover).
  • Clinical Interest: A strong commitment to womens health and a desire to progress within this specialty.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to provide empathetic, patient-centered care.

Job description

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Duties

  • Face to Face Clinics: Conduct specialized gynaecology clinics to assess, diagnose, and manage a variety of presentations, including but not limited to.
  • Menorrhagia and heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Irregular bleeding and post-menopausal bleeding investigations
  • Chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis management
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and hormonal imbalances
  • Contraceptive counselling and menopause management
  • Procedural Care: Safely perform routine gynaecological procedures within your scope of competence and actively participate in training for advanced localized procedures. This may include

o Difficult insertion of IUS

o Removal of lost IUS

o Cervical polypectomy

o Perform difficult smear tests

o Assess and manage prolapse symptoms with vaginal pessary

  • Collaborative Practice: Work closely under consultant support, participating in multi-disciplinary team discussions, to ensure the highest standards of patient safety.
  • Continuous Learning: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base in womens health, actively engaging in the training and professional development opportunities provided by the clinic.

Engage with local policies and procedures to ensure that PCS gynaecology service is compliant to all CQC legislation.
