Job summary
We are looking for a friendly, organised, and proactive Receptionist / Medical Navigator to join our busy GP surgery. This is a key front-line role where you will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing excellent customer service while ensuring they are directed to the most appropriate care and support.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and strong communication skills.
Main duties of the job
- Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answering a high volume of telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries.
- Undertaking active triage and care navigation, assessing patient needs using practice protocols and directing them to the most appropriate clinician or healthcare service.
- Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments efficiently.
- Managing repeat prescription requests and administrative queries.
- Processing patient registrations and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Handling confidential information in accordance with GDPR and NHS policies.
- Liaising effectively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and the wider practice team.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the reception and administrative functions.
