Job summary

Applications are invited for this post in Radiotherapy Physics at Leeds Cancer Centre, based at St Jamess University Hospital. The post sits within the Treatment Planning and Mould Room service and will contribute to the planning of routine and highly complex radiotherapy treatments, routine dosimetry and quality control, and the wider safe delivery of radiotherapy services. The successful candidate will be an experienced, motivated and clinically focused practitioner able to work as part of a strong multidisciplinary team. The role offers the opportunity to support advanced radiotherapy techniques, clinical trials, service development and innovation within one of the largest radiotherapy centres in the UK.

Main duties of the job

Radiotherapy Physics is part of Medical Physics and Engineering within Leeds Cancer Centre. The department supports a major radiotherapy service treating over 7,500 new radiotherapy patients per year and is equipped with modern technology including 12 Versa HD linear accelerators, MRSIM, Gamma Knife ICON and a Flexitron remote afterloading platform. You will join a supportive and forward-looking team of technologists, dosimetrists, physicists, radiographers and clinicians with a strong multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Research, innovation and education are central to the service, with opportunities to contribute to development work, advanced SABR pathways, clinical trials, training and ongoing service improvement.

What you will bring to the role You will bring experience in radiotherapy treatment planning and the ability to interpret complex clinical planning requests, advise on appropriate planning techniques and produce clinically acceptable treatment plan options. You will be able to work safely and independently, keep accurate records, contribute to quality assurance and routine dosimetry, and support the operation of specialist radiotherapy equipment and systems. The post requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, effective prioritisation and the ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, radiographers, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team. You will also support training, service development, clinical governance and safe high-quality patient care.
