Working in collaboration and unison with the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient running of all laundry processes in the home. This will include giving your undivided attention and care to all items for laundering, performing minor repairs to the residents personal items of clothing whilst being respectful and supportive of individual and differing needs. Continually and compassionately assess all aspects of residents laundry requirements

Main duties of the job

As a Laundry Assistant at Akari Care, you'll work closely with both the Housekeeper and the wider domestic team, playing a vital role in the seamless and efficient management of laundry processes within the home. You'll provide meticulous attention and care to all laundered items and undertake minor repairs on residents' personal clothing. Your role requires a high degree of sensitivity to the individual needs of residents, taking into account their diverse religious and cultural backgrounds to ensure a genuinely personalized service. We value compassionate commitment and active assessment of each resident's laundry needs, fostering a respectful and supportive environment. Your keen eye for cleanliness will ensure the laundry room is tidy and that equipment remains well-maintained, setting a high standard for colleagues and enriching the community spirit within our award-winning homes.

This will include giving your undivided attention and care to all items for laundering, performing minor repairs to the residents personal items of clothing whilst being respectful and supportive of individual and differing needs. Continually and compassionately assess all aspects of residents laundry requirements and provide dedicated and individualised attention if / when required. Methodically ensure that the laundry room is permanently clean and tidy, and that all equipment is clean and well maintained alongside imparting your knowledge to all other colleagues to ensure they adhere to the same high standards.

Whilst you will be involved in all the practical duties you would expect in a busy care home laundry environment it is important to be mindful of and conscious to individual religious and cultural backgrounds. To be continuously aware of how these needs might impact our residents alongside making sure they all feel that they have a personalised service.
