Job summary

We are looking for a team of motivated and enthusiastic Oliver McGowan Training, Facilitating Trainers to help deliver Tier 1 & Tier 2 training.

This is an important role where the post holder will deliver new learning disability and autism training, known as Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training, to people who work in health and social care across Birmingham and Solihull.

You will ideally have an in-depth understanding of learning disability and autism and are likely to have some experience of training delivery. You will be leading and supporting the co-trainers who are experts with lived experience in autism and learning disability.

You must demonstrate an ability to problem solve and address emerging issues at short notice.

A key aspect of the role will be providing ongoing support to meet the differing individual needs of co-trainers and support them to prepare and deliver training sessions in addition to providing post-delivery briefings and support. You will need to demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence and active listening skills.

By training our BSoL System's workforce, you will be instrumental in promoting social inclusion and reducing inequalities in healthcare.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on and be responsible for independently facilitating and delivering a trio model of training for Oliver McGowan mandatory training programme and to support the training needs required to sustain the

To lead, facilitate and support the experts by experience and people with a Learning Disability, providing supervision and support.

Support experts by experience and people with a Learning Disability and or Autism in developing their competencies utilising the appropriate training programme and documents and facilitate the completion and sign off for training competencies against the agreed level.

Provide training support for all clinicians attending the training including but not exhaustive to Health and Social Care colleagues, Trainees, Students and Apprentices.

Co-produce & co-deliver training activity, working effectively with service users & carers in the planning, development, delivery & evaluation of training & education activities.

Identify & liaise effectively with a variety of voluntary, private & other statutory organisations.

Ensure that effective systems of evaluation are in place & quality assurance maintained and continually developed.

Job description

Training Practice

1. Work in accordance with the OMMT Code of Conduct, Trust Policies and Procedures and practice in an evidence based manner.

2. Provide facilitation and support to staff in OMMT programme carrying out comprehensive training across the BSoL system which involves thorough understanding of People with a Learning Disability and/or Autism with complex conditions including a range of physical, cognitive, physiological, social and emotional/mental health problems.

3. In conjunction with the OMMT Team, support training competency and professional conduct in line with trust policy and procedures

4. Working alongside the OMMT team using analytical and judgement skills to assess participants level of understanding and application in practice, identifying further training and development needs.

5. Input into national evaluation of training

5. Undertake risk assessment of training tasks and document as appropriate

6. Demonstrates a senior level of training practice based on evidence based training practice and outcome measurement

7. Support the formulation and implementation of training pathways within the OMMT team system.

9. Promote and maintain an effective learning environment in a multi-professional, inter-disciplinary team.

10. Manages a training database and runs reports on training outputs
