The Role

Junction 21 is seeking a casual worker to mainly cover advocacy work with Children in Care and on Child Protection plans. The worker must have direct experience of working with young people. The casual worker will be part of a team of casual workers who are offered regular pieces of work on an ad-hoc basis. Casual workers may also be offered other pieces of work for the other teams within the Youth Offending Service

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy for Children in Care
  • Advocacy form Children on Child Protection plans
  • Appropriate adult
  • Social prescribing
  • Other pieces of support work for vulnerable/at risk children

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This position is mainly based from home but office space is available in the Town Hall, W-S-M if needed

 

Work Style

  • Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
  • Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.

 

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSE passes or equivalent including English and Maths
  • 6 months direct work with young people whose behaviour can be challenging or anti-social
  • Proven Track record of communication with young people and advocating for them (giving them a voice)
  • Empathy, patience and resilience

Desirable Criteria:

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent.
  • A recognised qualification in work with adolescents.
  • Working in a multi-agency setting
  • Experience of verbally delivering reports to multi-agency panels or reviews
  • Ability to engage and form positive relationships with young people quickly
