Job summary

We are looking for a motivated, skilled and compassionate orthopaedic plaster technician to join our dynamic orthopaedic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a band 5 practitioner to provide high quality plaster and casting service to patients across inpatients, outpatient and theatre settings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, application, removal and maintenance of a ide range of casts, splints and orthopaedic devises, ensuring safe evidence based care and whilst promoting patient comfort and recovery.

You will work closely with Orthopaedic consultants, junior doctors, nurses and the multi disciplinary team to deliver an efficient and patient centred service.

Main duties of the job

Work with the Plaster Technician Team to co-ordinate the day to day running of the Plaster Room within the Fracture Clinic.Provide appropriate evidence based advice, and instructions to children, young people and their families regarding the aftercare of their casting,To work with the Plaster Technician Team to ensure stock levels are maintained within the department.To work with the Plaster Technician Team to maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Trust policies.Implement, organise and deliver planned care once agreed by a registered practitioner for designated patients. All aspects of care will be reported to the appropriate supervising registered practitioner.

To work as a member of the Multidisciplinary Orthopaedic & theatre teams providing high quality and safe treatment to Patients and Families attending Fracture Clinic and elective orthopaedic, PMBTs & spinal theatres.

Undertake tasks and procedures in which competence has been taught, demonstrated and recorded, specific to the environment in which the post holder is employed.Once competent, perform accurate documentation of care given, according to the Trust's PoliciesMaintain mandatory training requirements of the role via moodle & face to face training.
