Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Pre-Assessment Nurse to join our team at Thorpe Park Head Office. The role will consist of supporting the Endoscopy service team to ensure a safe and efficient patient journey through the endoscopy pathway. This role includes triage and clinical pre-assessment to determine patient suitability for community-based procedures.
Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care in the pre-assessment environment.
- Serve as the first clinical contact, ensuring appropriate management of key health conditions (e.g., anticoagulation, diabetes, comorbidities) in line with community-based service protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and identify previously unreported health issues.
- Work independently and demonstrate clinical autonomy in decision-making.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals both verbally and in writing.
- Ensure adherence to JAG (Joint Advisory Group) standards and stay updated with British Society of Gastroenterology guidelines.
- Triage referrals according to contract criteria and clinical exclusion guidelines.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement and lead change initiatives where required.
- Support the development and maintenance of evidence-based nursing care pathways.

- Supervise, mentor, and support healthcare assistants, including coordination of training and mandatory education.
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records in compliance with professional standards.
- Review and update patient health promotion materials and contribute to Clinical Governance discussions.
- Foster collaboration with primary and secondary care providers, ensuring alignment with NICE and NHSE guidelines.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Essential- Registered with a professional body.
Desirability to be educated to degree level.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Good IT Skills and ability to work with online programmes such as SystmOne.
