Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive practice team. This is an exciting opportunity for a GP looking for a flexible role within a well-established practice, with the opportunity to work 4-6 sessions per week.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred medical care to our registered patient population, working collaboratively with our clinical and administrative teams.

We are looking for a GP who is committed to delivering safe, effective and compassionate care and who will contribute positively to the ongoing development of our practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care to our practice population.
  • Conduct face-to-face and telephone consultations, assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of clinical presentations.
  • Work within our practice triage system, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate clinician or service.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions, including appropriate treatment, investigation, referral and follow-up.
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in line with current guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, safeguarding and quality improvement.
  • Participate in practice meetings and support the ongoing development of the practice.

Job description

Longbarn Lane Surgery is seeking a committed GP to join our friendly and supportive team, working 46 sessions per week.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centred care through face-to-face and telephone consultations.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
  • Work within our triage-led system, ensuring patients receive care from the most appropriate clinician.
  • Prescribe safely and make appropriate referrals and investigations.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and review results and correspondence.
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in clinical governance, safeguarding, audit and practice development.
  • Maintain professional standards in line with GMC and NHS requirements.

About us

Longbarn Lane Surgery is a friendly and well-established GP practice based in Reading, providing comprehensive NHS primary care to our local patient population.

We have a supportive multidisciplinary team including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, a Clinical Pharmacist, Paramedic Practitioner, First Contact Physiotherapist and Social Prescriber.

The practice has a triage-led appointment system, with patient requests reviewed by a GP or senior clinician and directed to the most appropriate clinician or service. This allows the practice to make effective use of the wider multidisciplinary team while ensuring patients receive appropriate GP care when required.

We offer a broad range of primary care services, including chronic disease management, family planning and contraception, child health surveillance and minor surgery. The practice is also a Veteran Friendly Accredited GP Practice.

We are looking for a GP who will work collaboratively with our team and contribute to providing safe, high-quality and patient-centred care.
