We're looking for a Recruitment & ESR Assistant to join our friendly and supportive Recruitment & ESR Team at Gateshead Health.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, staying organised and working as part of a busy team. You don't need previous experience in recruitment, HR or ESR systems--we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.
In this role, you'll help people start their journey with Gateshead Health. From supporting recruitment campaigns and helping new colleagues join the Trust, to maintaining employee records and answering queries, you'll play an important part in ensuring our staff have a positive experience from day one.

Main duties of the job
As part of our Recruitment & ESR Team, you'll provide administrative support that helps keep essential people processes running smoothly across the Trust.
A typical day might include:
- Supporting recruitment campaigns and helping candidates through the recruitment process, promoting Gateshead Health as a great place to work.
- Preparing employment documents and processing information for new starters.
- Updating and maintaining employee records accurately.
- Responding to telephone and email enquiries from staff and managers.
- Helping colleagues access workforce systems and services.
- Working with sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
- Producing routine reports and carrying out data quality checks.
This is a varied role where no two days are exactly the same. You'll gain experience across recruitment, workforce systems, customer service and administration while working alongside experienced colleagues who will support your development.
Job description
The Recruitment & ESR Assistant is an important member of the People & OD team.
You will:
- Be one of the first points of contact for recruitment and employee record queries.
- Provide a friendly, professional and helpful service to staff, managers, applicants and external organisations.
- Process information relating to recruitment, new starters and employee changes.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and ensure information is updated promptly.
- Prepare routine correspondence and employment-related documentation.
- Support the smooth running of recruitment and onboarding activities.
- Produce regular reports and undertake routine data checks.
- Help resolve straightforward system access issues and escalate more complex queries when required.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Trust to ensure information is accurate and deadlines are met.
- Handle personal and sensitive information appropriately, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Contribute ideas to help improve the service and the experience of our staff and applicants.
