Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will make a positive contribution to our Bioscience and Chemistry provision, mainly supporting undergraduate Chemistry (and other Biosciences courses as required).
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be expected to deliver lectures, tutorials, group teaching sessions, support the delivery of laboratory practical classes and to undertake assessment work and marking.

Role purpose
To contribute to a high-quality and inclusive student learning experience through the delivery of scholarship of teaching, learning and assessment across defined subject areas, supporting student success (i.e. experience, continuation, completion, attainment, progression, and graduation outcomes).
To work collaboratively with academic and professional colleagues to support curriculum delivery and student wellbeing, and to engage in ongoing professional development and emerging scholarship of teaching and learning or professional activity.
Role-specific responsibilities
The post holder performs a range of duties and responsibilities from those listed below. The balance and priority of these will vary between Schools/ Institute and post holders.
Deliver high-quality, inclusive and engaging teaching across modules or subject areas, using appropriate pedagogic and digital approaches to support student learning and success.
Contribute to the design and development of learning activities, teaching materials and assessment tasks, ensuring learning resources are prepared and available;
- contribute to the design and, deliver workshops, laboratories or targeted learning support sessions for individuals or groups of students, aligned to course and professional requirements.
Provide constructive assessment and feedback, within stipulated timeframes, ensuring that feedback promotes student learning, progression, academic integrity and achievement.
Support students progress and engagement through academic guidance, feedback and appropriate signposting to university pastoral and support services where required, contributing to student wellbeing, belonging and transition through their studies.
Contribute to curriculum delivery and enhancement activities within a course or subject area, including participation in review, evaluation and quality processes.
Participate in academic teams and communities of practice, sharing best practice that contributes to collaborative delivery of teaching and student support.
Engage in continuing professional development to maintain and enhance own subject knowledge, teaching practice and professional standing, including engagement with the Performance and Development Review (PDR) process and participation in peer learning, knowledge sharing and academic communities where appropriate.
These duties may evolve in line with the changing strategic objectives of the college / department and University. Specific objectives will be agreed through the Universitys performance and development review (PDR) process.

Our research is aimed at increasing understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of health and disease and its application to diagnosis, monitoring and treatment. We also excel in the application of analytical techniques to pharmaceutical, environmental and materials chemistry.
