Job description

Job Summary Are you an ambitious Cardiac Physiologist looking to take the next step in your career? If you are looking for a role where you can work autonomously, expand your specialist skills, influence service delivery and be part of a forward-thinking team, we would welcome your application.

We are pleased to offer three exciting Band 6 roles:

2 x Cardiac Physiologist (Echocardiography)

1 x Cardiac Physiologist (Cardiac Rhythm Management – Device Services)

Whether your passion is Echocardiography or Cardiac Rhythm Management, LTHT can offer you exceptional opportunities to develop your career beyond the scope of smaller organisations.

What we offer:

  • Exposure to complex and rare cardiac pathology.
  • Opportunities to develop specialist expertise.
  • A structured programme of education, mentorship and professional development, with support towards relevant accreditation and developing advanced practice.
  • Opportunities to contribute to research, innovation, service improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Clear career progression through supported education, mentorship, competency-based development and access to specialist multidisciplinary teams; you will have opportunities to expand your clinical expertise, gain advanced competencies and progress into senior specialist and leadership roles.

Why you should join our Team Echocardiography (2 Posts)

Our Echocardiography Department provides specialist imaging for patients with complex cardiac conditions; supporting diagnosis, management and ongoing surveillance through routine and advanced echocardiography techniques and physiology-led services. Our sonographers are encouraged to develop specialist expertise in 3D/4D, Contrast/Bubble and myocardial deformation Strain imaging and to use them routinely.

The successful candidate will independently perform and report adult TTE, assist with imaging in TOE, provide TTE during transcatheter interventional procedures in a Cath lab environment and will help with teaching, training and development of students within the clinical environment. They will be supported to develop expertise in advanced imaging techniques through structured training and supervised specialist practice.

Cardiac Rhythm Management – Device Service (1 Post)

Our CRM/Device Service is well established and continually evolving, providing specialist care for patients with implanted cardiac rhythm management devices including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) systems.

The successful candidate will undertake independent device follow-up clinics, device interrogation and programming, remote monitoring and inpatient device assessments, working collaboratively with electrophysiology and heart failure teams. The post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a busy tertiary CRM service with exposure to complex device therapies with the support of a highly specialised workforce.

Successful candidates for both roles will be enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individuals who are committed to delivering excellent cardiac care. They will be able to demonstrate strong clinical skills, a passion for continuous development and the ability to work confidently both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

The Trust has 5 main sites and candidates should be willing to work where required on a rotational basis.
