Job summary

An exciting opportunity has come available to work with our team of secretaries over in our Wharfedale hospital. Part of a small team, the successful candidate would have a role that is predominantly typing as well as other administrative duties, for several services that operate over in our Wharfedale location. Were looking for a highly motivated, independent candidate that would be able to work using their own initiative as well as working as part of a team. The team is small and covers over 7 specialties across the hospital therefore can often be fast paced. We are looking for someone with thorough accurate typing skills and excellent customer service experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a secretarial team, responsible for the typing, issuing and filing of diagnostic reports, supporting the core service work of the department. The post holder will support the Clinical Team in the provision of an efficient and effective office service. To ensure that processes/procedures comply with legislative requirements covering Health & Safety, Data Protection and confidentiality. Application of Trust policies, hospital practices and procedures associated with the role of the medical secretary which requires specialist knowledge e.g. Medical Terminology, Patient Pathway protocols. Working in a customer focussed environment. Understanding and knowledge of office based procedures/systems Experience of using a variety of IT applications in a Windows based environment. Appropriate typing/IT qualification or equivalent. GCSE (or equivalent) English Language grade C or above. RSA Stage II typing/word processing or equivalent. The ability to cope with the sometimes distressing and emotional nature of the work when dealing with situations requiring sensitivity involving colleagues, patients and their families. An ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, i.e. patients, relatives, colleagues and health professionals, within the Trust and externally. Why you should join our Team The job role is based in Wharfedale Hospital, which covers several CSUs ranging from Colorectal to Neurology. The team is only a small team who are very friendly and welcoming, we adhere to the Leeds Way Values in the office, which is also nice and bright based in our Wharfedale hospital that was rebuilt in 2004, this is a very nice and calming environment. We are a great team who all care for one another and want to get the best out of our collaborative work ethic and do the best for the services that we cover.
