Are you a motivated and forward-thinkingPharmacy Technicianlooking to make a meaningful impact on children's healthcare?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Surrey Children's Services Team, supporting the Lead Pharmacist in delivering high-quality medicines optimisation across services that support children, young people and families.

This is a unique opportunity to work beyond traditional pharmacy settings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve medicines safety, governance and effectiveness across community-based children's services.

You'll play a key role in supporting medicines optimisation initiatives, undertaking audits, reviewing prescribing activity, monitoring medicine-related incidents and ensuring learning is embedded across services. Your expertise will help ensure safe, effective and compliant medicines management while supporting service improvements and innovation.

Our Healthy Family Teams support services across Surrey, and you'll be based from one of our Surrey office hubs, with the opportunity for hybrid working.

Main ResponsibilitiesIn this varied and rewarding role, you will:

  • Promote best practice in medicines optimisation across Children's Services.
  • Build strong relationships with clinical colleagues, commissioners and partner organisations.
  • Support medicines optimisation work programmes across the Integrated Care System (ICS) and Integrated Care Board (ICB).
  • Analyse medicines-related data, audits and incident reports, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Produce and present reports relating to medicines governance and optimisation activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of medicines-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Undertake audits, service reviews and site visits to strengthen medicines governance.
  • Contribute to Patient Group Direction (PGD) governance and Non-Medical Prescribing governance.
  • Help ensure the safe handling, storage and administration of medicines across services.
  • Provide medicines-related advice, training and competency support to colleagues.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives involving controlled drugs, antimicrobials and medicines administration records.
  • Represent the Lead Pharmacist at medicines management meetings when required.
  • Keep up to date with legislative, regulatory and professional developments relevant to medicines practice.
  • Maintain professional standards in accordance with GPhC and Royal Pharmaceutical Society guidance

What We're Looking ForEssentialWe're keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Registration as a Qualified Pharmacy Technician with an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medicines legislation and medicines management within community services.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent IT and data management skills.
  • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and sound decision-making abilities.

Desirable

  • Experience using ePACT prescribing data.
  • Previous experience within community health services or primary care settings.
  • Understanding of medicines optimisation in community healthcare environments.

Other Requirements

  • Access to a vehicle insured for business use to facilitate travel across Surrey sites.
