An exciting post is available for a Trust Grade Registrar to join our Ambulatory Care Team at Ealing Hospital.
This is a great opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful integrated care NHS Trust's in the UK, with a team of 9,000 dedicated staff.
The Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) at Ealing hospital began its operation in 2014. It has now moved to a dedicated area on Level 1 Ealing Hospital with 18 chairs/Trolleys as well as 2 Side Rooms for Assessment.
ACU is open 9-8pm 7 days a week and your Rota will encompass On Call Days where you cover 9-8pm.
At ACU we aim to assess patients requiring emergency care who can be managed safely and appropriately on the same day either without admission or admission for only a number of hours.
We have developed medical, ED and surgical pathways which are implemented in our ACU.
ACU takes referrals from GPs, ED to avoid admission and wards to facilitate discharge. Successful candidates will contribute in developing and expanding this service further.
Main duties of the job
(a) The successful candidates will work under the supervision of the Acute Consultants in the day to day work associated with the care of Acute general medical inpatients in Ambulatory Care Unit.
(b) The candidate will be reviewing medical patients in ACU and liaise with ED and Medical Registrar to pull suitable Ambulatory care patients to avoid admissions.
(c) The candidate will be expected to learn and perform practical procedures such as ascitic drain insertion and chest drain insertion.
(d) The appointee will be expected to attend and actively participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions.
(e) It is expected that the appointee will assist with the teaching of undergraduate medical students attached to the firm and postgraduate junior doctors.
(f) The appointee is welcome to participate in clinical audit and clinical governance activities within the department of Acute Medicine.
