Job summary
Our friendly, forward thinking, and supportive Medical Practice is looking to recruit a committed, caring and highly motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and well-established Medical Practice.
We are looking for someone who is trained and competent to undertake phlebotomy (essential) and either already trained as a Healthcare Assistant or a Phlebotomist looking to become trained as a Healthcare Assistant. The ideal candidate will have experience working as part of a team and also independently and will have the ability to liaise with staff at all levels. Applicants must have a friendly disposition, flexible approach and be adaptable to change. We work in a fast-paced environment, therefore the candidate must be a fast learner and confident and competent using IT software.
We are looking for part time applicants, desired hours can be discussed at interview.
In addition to undergoing an enhanced DBS check, we will require the applicant to provide evidence of certain immunisations/immunity (MMR and Hep B). Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will see patients in clinic for a variety of treatments and procedures such as blood tests, NHS health checks, diabetic foot checks etc. whilst working under specific protocols and guidelines. The HCA will also assist in theatres in a variety of procedures such as vasectomies, carpal tunnel etc. The HCA will work within their clinical boundaries to be able to demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and deliver expert care, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Job description
Key duties:
Undertaking blood tests, blood pressure checks, and height, weight and BMI checks.
Assisting in minor surgery procedures including but not limited to vasectomies, carpal tunnel, dermatology procedures, coils etc.
Undertaking NHS and new patient health checks.
Undertaking diabetic foot checks.
Assisting with urinalysis and sample checks.
Ensuring patient confidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times.
