Job summary

To ensure the effective delivery of occupational therapy in accordance with quality practices and procedures working in the Intensive Community Assessment and Treatment Team (ICATT).

People on the caseload will have a learning disability and may also experience mental health problems, have a dual diagnosis and challenge services with their behaviour.

The team work in a flexible and responsive way, providing a 7 day, 8am-8pm service to meet the needs of people experiencing increased challenging behaviours and/or a decline in their mental health.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of service users who have complex and challenging needs.

To provide occupational therapy assessment, interventions and evaluation, providing advice and support to service users, carers and other agencies.

To work flexibly and responsively within a 7 day shift pattern to meet the needs of service users experiencing increased challenging behaviours and/or a decline in their mental health.

To undertake the role of duty worker for the team once per week, triaging new referrals and co-ordinating day to day incoming queries and tasks.

To provide leadership to junior staff and students placed with the team and offer fieldwork placements to OT students.

To participate in the planning and development of the learning disability occupational therapy service taking responsibility for developing defined projects.

To contribute to the Trust OT service as agreed.

Job description

You will have responsibility for your own caseload ensuring the provision of robust OT assessment, evidence based interventions and evaluation to meet the occupational performance needs of service users accepted by the team Utilise core and specialist OT skills. Work collaboratively with Health and Adult social care colleagues helping to ensure continuity of care for our client population. Plan, facilitate and evaluate a range of interventions. Learning disability OT standards. RCOT Standards Health Care Professions Council standards of conduct, performance and ethics Trust standards and policies. CPD Portfolio Personal Development Plan Supervision

Use expertise to deliver therapeutic interventions with service users with complex needs and some whom may demonstrate challenging behaviours Prioritise caseload allocation to ensure appropriate and timely service delivery. Timely and accurate reporting and recording processes.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary / skill level is below the minimum required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
