Are you an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist who is passionate about children with complex needs? We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the team based in Reading.
The Berkshire Healthcare CYPIT service is an integrated childrens therapy service shaped around the needs of the child and family operating within the Children, Families and All Age Services Division (CFAA). We are structured within integrated teams consisting of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, as well as a strong integrated therapy assistant team based in locality areas within Berkshire strategically focused on phases of life. We work closely together to ensure we have the greatest therapeutic impact, working both directly and indirectly with children, young people and families to enable them to achieve their goals. Remote working is also an option.
Main duties of the job
Undertake specialist clinical assessment and treatment of children and young people (CYPF) within the speciality who may have complex presentations and/or support other clinicians to do this both within the defined area of specialist provision and OT generally for less experienced staff.
Lead the development of other therapists within the defined specialist area offering support, mentoring, training and specialist advice, as well as defining core competencies for staff to work towards.
Share knowledge and expertise and act as an advisor within the area of specialism across the CYPF division and with wider MDT partners and parents.
Support the overall development of community paediatric OT clinical skills and lead in the development of key clinical skills in a defined area of clinical specialism with clinicians, assistants and students. This will include the use of mentoring, training and informing the appraisal process ensuring staff members have the competencies required to carry out their role safely and effectively.
Contribute to the development of service provision within their area of specialism alongside the CYPF operational team leads and professional leads. This includes ensuring best practice across the area of speciality and the service within CYPF.
