Job summary
As Health Care Assistant (HCA) working in our practice you will carry out both patient-facing and back office duties to support the nursing team function.
You will work as part of our team of dedicated nurses and HCAs who provide services to our patients such as phlebotomy, health checks, cancer screening, immunisations and dressings.
You will need to be compassionate and organised, with good attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
The working hours for this role will fall on Thursdays and Fridays.
Main duties of the job
- Working as part of our nursing team, with responsibilities delegated to you by your nursing colleagues
- Management of medical supplies, including ordering and stocking
- Providing phlebotomy and blood pressure checks
- Carrying out NHS Health checks in line with national and local guidance
- Carrying out immunisations in line with Patient Specific Directions (PSD)
- Assisting with minor surgery procedures
- Providing support to patients with long term conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and severe mental illness (SMI)
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Work safely within your scope, but with the confidence to consult with patients on a one-to-one basis
