Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a community-based, specialist ARFID Pathway within the East London Community Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People (EL CEDS-CYP). The job is based at the Emanuel Miller Centre, 11 Gill Street, London E14 8HQ, with cross-site working across Tower Hamlets, Newham and City & Hackney.

The post is part-time -- 4 Programmed Activities (PAs), with 1 PA protected for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA), including Continuous Professional Development. Part-time and flexible working patterns are welcomed. This post would suit an existing Consultant in Community or Acute Paediatrics working in other roles within East London, or could be a standalone post.

The post holder will be expected to work alongside the Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and jointly provide medical leadership to the ARFID Pathway. They will support the team with children and young people aged 8-18 with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) or suspected ARFID, performing, supervising and managing physical health assessments, liaising with secondary and primary care colleagues, and reviewing/developing protocols to ensure effective and efficient service delivery and joint working with partner agencies, including local acute Trusts.

Main duties of the job

1. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload in the day-to-day allocation of work within the ARFID Pathway.

2. To deputise when required in the ARFID Pathway Lead's absence on paediatric matters and delegate appropriately to other medical staff.

3. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.

4. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.

5. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk, and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust's risk register.

Job description

To act as an autonomous, registered practitioner who is legally and professionally accountable for own unsupervised actions, guided by the professional code of conduct and Trust guidelines and protocols.

The post holder will have full registration with a licence to practise on the General Medical Council (GMC).

Further professional knowledge will have been gained through accredited courses, workshops, study and in-house training programmes.

To be responsible and accountable for the paediatric physical health input to children and young people on the ARFID Pathway.
